MAN QuickStop with a world first

Matthias tests the new MAN TGX

With the driver in mind, the developers at MAN have provided the truck with even more innovations to make the new vehicle an even better partner on the road. We had Trucker’s World member Matthias test how drivers will receive these new features.

Mirror replacement is a huge topic. Driver Matthias Kreppold had already heard a few things about it but not yet experienced it himself. But this all changed when he tried out the new mirror replacement system from MAN. Whilst the video of the current QuickStop episode was being filmed, he was one of the first drivers anywhere to see it in action and test it out. In the process, he not only got to know the latest model in the MAN TGX series, but also actor and comedian John Friedmann – and the two of them took a really good look at the vehicle together. Matthias tells us that he wasn’t really anxious before the video shoot, but that it was a challenge in terms of what to say – as the whole thing was recorded in English. “But the crew was really friendly and made sure that everyone felt relaxed and everything ran smoothly,” laughs Matthias.

He was excited about seeing the new MAN TGX for the first time: “I saw the vehicle for the first time and have to admit that I was a bit sceptical.” But the initial scepticism quickly gave way to real enthusiasm: “The overall package is a real success. The instrumentation and the way the operating elements are laid out are largely self-explanatory and you really feel at home. It is all positive – without exception,” says Matthias, giving it a clear thumbs up.

Worth the investment

Following his positive initial experience with the optimised MAN TGX, Matthias is certain: “I would buy the mirror replacement system because it really does support the driver in their day-to-day work.” Not to mention the assistance systems which he believes should be a part of every truck. He was also personally taken by the electrically assisted steering: “Wow, the steering is phenomenal!” gushes the 35-year-old after just the first few metres in the new vehicle.

As a businessman, he was also interested in all of the new features which help to save fuel. Are you curious about the latest features? Then take a look at the QuickStop episode with Matthias, John and the new MAN TGX now.
