MANTRUCKSTOP

In this episode, MAN QuickStop visits the MTU/MAN Munich plant fire brigade

Fighting fires, providing technical support, deployments involving dangerous goods and emergency services – the MTU/MAN plant fire brigade is responsible for a great many things. MAN QuickStop is dedicating the current episode to the varied and responsible work of the emergency personnel and presents two of their MAN fire service vehicles, without which that work would not be possible.

Challenging tasks require extraordinary vehicles. This is a requirement that the vehicles of the MTU/MAN plant fire brigade naturally fulfil in every regard. The plant fire brigade has a modern, diversified fleet used for a wide variety of deployments. Two of these special vehicles are the subject of the latest MAN QuickStop episode and will be presented in more detail as part of the video series.

One of these two special MAN vehicles is a universal rescue unit fire-fighting truck and could be considered the Swiss Army knife of trucks thanks to its varied applications.

«The MAN TGS 18.340 4×2 BL truly is an all-rounder.»

Equipped with a variety of extinguishing agents, a roof turret, floor jets and pumps, it is perfectly suited to fighting fires on the one hand. On the other hand, its technical equipment also makes it the perfect choice for rescue operations and cleaning up spilled dangerous goods, as is required after vehicular or industrial accidents, for example.

The second vehicle is an aerial ladder platform, which can reach a height of 42 metres when fully extended. What makes this emergency services vehicle special are the extinguishing agents as well as the required pumps it carries. This means it can be deployed independently for fires on the upper floors of a building or rescue operations in large industrial buildings. The aerial ladder platform is designed for a maximum load of 500 kg and can be expanded with different attachments depending on the type of deployment. The chassis is a MAN TGS 26.440 6×4-4 equipped with MAN HydroDrive, which can be activated at any time if increased traction is required during a deployment.
