TRUCKSTOP

Andy Joerissen puts his heart and soul into being a driver and haulier

From temporary driver to independent haulier. Andy Joerissen has never lost his enthusiasm for trucks. Which is why he turned his side job into a firm foothold in the transport industry by starting his own small company.

Andy Joerissen’s Truck Life Story starts with three letters: MUH. The Eifel-based company in Germany was Andy’s first official start in driving trucks. “After getting my truck driver’s licence, I transported milk as a back-up driver on the weekends,” explains Andy. However, his passion for large vehicles goes much further back – for as long as he can remember, all the way back to his childhood. Trucks fascinated him: “Even in the days of the MAN F2000,” he remembers.

Today, he owns his own small but exquisite fleet consisting only of MAN vehicles. And it all started with a Lion: “I bought a used MAN TGX 18.480 in good condition back in 2019,” continues Andy, explaining how he got his company up and running.

The 36-year-old loves his job in the driver’s seat because it offers so much freedom and always new experiences. However, there are undoubtedly aspects that make him take a more critical view of his profession and keep him very busy as a haulier: Taking high taxes as an example. Andy’s opinion is that they are moving in the wrong direction, making it difficult for smaller companies in particular to remain competitive in the industry. This driving haulier is therefore all the happier that he and his team have found a transport niche that is performing well. His semitrailers primarily transport raw milk from farms to the dairy.

“We do face a fare few challenges in this sector,”

explains Andy, one being that they arrive at the farms on time to ensure no complications or delays when collecting milk. He puts his faith in his dedicated team of employees and the reliable vehicles in his fleet – all MAN vehicles. Consumption, performance, reliability and appearance – “We are more than satisfied,” says the Herne-based contractor.

His own dream Lion – an MAN TGX 18.680 with a V8 engine – is also part of the Andreas Joerissen Transporte fleet. Andy does not stop with himself: He is happy to make the vehicle wishes of his drivers, Marcel Carta and Jens Rauter, come true as well. Finding good people is anything but easy, so Andy makes every effort to keep his small team on top form. For Andy, total dedication counts across the board.
