Emergency Brake Assist and Front Detection

Two MAN assistance systems make your journey through towns or complex traffic situations safer and more relaxed. Thanks to modern sensors, the systems become predictive bodyguards for your truck – and for weaker road users.

If traffic is slow on your route or the traffic situation is unclear, you need to concentrate fully. This is where an assistance system comes in: MAN Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) prevents accidents by warning you of impending collisions and initiating emergency braking in the event of danger.

Behind the wheel of a truck, attention is paramount – and you have to keep an eye on a lot of different things. So what about a few extra eyes to help you? The MAN Emergency Brake Assist system helps you to monitor the traffic area. With the help of a radar sensor and a camera in the windscreen, the assistance system can detect hazardous situations even faster and more precisely. Distances to other road users as well as their position and speed are monitored continuously.

Before things become dangerous, the system sends a visual and acoustic signal to the driver. The assistance system only intervenes if there is no reaction. In the event of danger, emergency braking is initiated. In this situation, the following traffic is also warned by automatically switching on the hazard warning lights.

MAN Front Detection

Another helpful assistance system can warn you of a possible collision when driving off. This ensures greater safety for vulnerable road users and significantly reduces your workload. This system is particularly useful in urban traffic.

Whether in the delivery zone, at the depot exit or during rush hour in the city centre. People can always be in the hard-to-see or invisible area directly in front of your vehicle – playing children, inattentive pedestrians or people on a bicycle. MAN Front Detection recognises such dangers at speeds of up to ten kilometres per hour, so especially when moving off.

Just like MAN Emergency Brake Assist, MAN Front Detection can access radar sensors and the windscreen camera. The system can distinguish between movement directions, speeds and even object types. An acoustic signal sends a warning into the cab if there is a risk of collision. However, the assistant also reports objects in the monitoring range when the vehicle is parked or waiting. These are shown as a coloured area on the display.

Driving assistance systems such as MAN Emergency Brake Assist and MAN Front Detection ensure a more relaxed journey and safe arrival. They complement your personal driving style and give you valuable time for important actions. Both systems are available as standard for the MAN models MAN TGX, MAN eTGX, MAN TGS, MAN eTGS, MAN TGL and MAN TGM.
