The MAN powerhouse at work on every construction site

MAN TGX driver Stefan Ortner is behind the wheel of his dream truck

Stefan Ortner’s MAN TGX is truly multi-talented. Whether he uses it for crane operations, excavating, or as a transit mixer, the MAN TGX 33.640 D38 Power – featuring a Meiller three-way tipper and a detachable HMF 2620 k6 rear-mounted crane – is hard at work on every building site where his services are required. So it should come as little surprise that Ortner, 27, describes the MAN as his dream truck.

The professional driver relishes the daily challenges he has to face on his work sites, which are mainly located in the Austrian regions of East Tyrol and Upper Carinthia. As for so many others, the coronavirus outbreak changed the game for Ortner and his colleagues. “As the crisis was just unfolding, there were a whole host of restrictions on work at construction sites in response to the virus. Now, fortunately, everything is back up and running,” the young driver from the town of Lienz is relieved to report.

Pride of place fleet-wide: the lion emblem over the grille

Stefan followed in the footsteps of the two generations before him and has been driving for his father’s business since 2012. The firm is a loyal MAN customer. “Given that the vehicles are as reliable as they are, we have an all-MAN fleet,” the Austrian explains. And the ability to work with service outlet Auto Thum in Lienz is “just perfect”, he adds. Fittingly, on a personal level, Stefan is also an MAN fan through and through – and so decided to become a member of Trucker’s World early this year. After all, true lions band together.
