“Waste removal is rarely a topic of discussion”

Marc Schulte puts his heart and MAN into it

Driver, Marc, has been working in the waste removal sector for 20 years. In fact, he has been a professional driver for 31 years. You would have to go back even further than that for his first encounter with an MAN.

People don’t have much to say about waste removal. Whether it’s at home, at work or during goods production, everyone knows that we produce huge quantities of waste and, at some point, this will need to be taken away and disposed of. The hard-working men and women who take on the task of cleaning up after us tend to remain in the shadows. One of those people is Marc Schulte from Recke in North Rhine-Westphalia. He has been a professional driver since 1989 and is an avowed MAN fan.

He is employed by Meyer Entsorgung, putting his grass-green MAN TGS 26.400 suction tanker to good use in the wastewater technology sector. It is a varied and demanding job. “Safely negotiating the city traffic of Osnabrück and the surrounding area is certainly a challenge,” reveals Marc.

But he always gets a good feeling from his MAN truck, “it is the ideal truck for the job I have to do,” says Marc, who is impressed by the reliability of the brand with the lion on its crest. The MAN trucks he has driven thus far have never let him down.

“There’s nothing better”

MAN trucks have had him in raptures since he was a little boy: “The Büssing BS 16 was the first MAN truck that I got my hands on,” recalls Marc. Many other trucks have come and gone over the years.

“An MAN F90 26.362 suction tanker had the highest mileage, namely over 800,000 km, but calculated on the basis of hours of operation, the engine managed a good 1,600,000 km. Incredible!” explains the 47-year-old.

And if he could choose one particular MAN truck? “The ideal truck for the work I do is the MAN TGS, the model I’m driving now,” says Marc. In his opinion, an unsynchronised version with a manual gearbox would be even better. For private use, he would opt for an MAN F8: “A 320, like the one I had the pleasure of driving way back when, with a 13-gear Fuller gearbox. There’s nothing better,” says Marc enthusiastically. Generally speaking, he has a real soft spot for the older models and, for this reason, he spends a lot of his free time working on historical commercial vehicles.

In terms of his MAN truck, his hopes for the future are rather modest: He would like an automatic gearbox with a good gearshift strategy and well-arranged mirrors so that he can keep a close eye on everything. Marc takes his job very seriously. He wants to provide his customers with the best possible service and reliability. To do so, Marc puts his trust in his MAN truck. And the customers? They can breathe easy: When Marc arrives in his MAN truck, everything is removed and disposed of neatly and reliably.
