The stylish ‘Game of Thrones’ lion from Transports Palfray

A new-generation MAN TGX in ‘Game of Thrones’ livery is a recent addition to the fleet of Transports Palfray, based in Lillebonne in the Seine Maritime department of France. Paired with its striking exterior, the Lion also exclusively and uniquely features the complete MAN Individual interior.

“I’m a fan of the series, so I was keen to treat myself to this new MAN TGX in ‘Game of Thrones’ livery. Everything about its design reflects the landscapes and characters in the series,” says Alain Palfray, managing director of Transports Palfray, about his new super-MAN.He and his wife Christelle run the company in Lillebonne, Normandy, specialising in container transport and international express services.

“I’m doing my dream job. For me it means freedom, independence, and the opportunity to travel. It’s a real passion.”

Alain has been a truck driver for over 20 years. Starting with courier services and short-haul stretches between Le Havre and Paris, he progressed into the long-haul sector. “Once you get a taste for it, it’s natural to want to explore further afield, including abroad,” he says. “I’m doing my dream job. For me it means freedom, independence, and the opportunity to travel. It’s a real passion.”

The MAN TGX closed the deal at its first showing

Christelle travelled to Bilbao, Spain, to attend the launch of the new MAN Truck Generation, and decided on the spot to order a MAN TGX for her husband. “I had no idea what kind of truck I was getting,” Alain reveals. But since he’s had it, he’s learnt that it’s something very special:

“510 horsepower; an XXL cab with a kitchenette: this truck is my home on wheels!”

he enthuses.

He and his wife like to give their trucks a decorative touch, so they decided to transform the MAN TGX into a spectacular eye-catcher based on the look of their favourite TV series. In addition to the custom decor, the MAN TGX 18 4×2 was also fitted out at the MAN workshop in Le Havre with a front-end bull bar, full-LED dipping headlights on the roof, a work platform with trailer hitch extended as far as the fifth-wheel coupling, two fuel tanks with 370 and 490 litres capacity, LED front and rear lights, and alloy wheels. And the interior design was of course also upgraded accordingly. Along with the ‘Game of Thrones’ lighting, every time he sets out on the road Alain is able to enjoy the generous space of his GX cab and the high levels of comfort provided by the full MAN Individual equipment package.

“I’m very proud of what my wife and I have achieved,” Alain says. “We are making good progress despite the great challenges brought by the ongoing health crisis.” Alain is also proud of his Lions, which include three MAN tractor units for container transport and a MAN TGE for express transport services. “The MAN ‘Game of Thrones’ truck will be our ambassador,” he asserts.

It’s easy to see why he can hardly wait to show off his super-truck to other enthusiasts at all kinds of events, but especially at the 24 Hours of Le Mans race.
