Flagship of the new generation
Essex-based, family-owned company Hammond Transport recently took delivery of an impressive addition to its fleet, a new-generation MAN TGX 26.510 6×2 tractor vehicle with a top-of-the-range GX cab.
Kevin Baker has been a truck driver for 30 years, and since October 2020 he has been the sole “landlord” of his employer’s new and powerful flagship model. Naturally, he is proud and happy that his boss chose him to drive the new MAN TGX 26.510, which is adorned with Hammond Transport’s traditional silver and blue paint finish. Because, in addition to the eye-catching exterior design with chrome illumination strips on the roof, revolving beacons and compressed-air horns, Alcoa Dura-Bright alloy wheels and accentuated MAN and lion motifs, the technology and comfort in the cab’s interior are equally impressive: From the leather-covered, ergonomically designed multifunction steering wheel with multiple adjustments, to the 12.3-inch colour display with HD resolution, satellite navigation and MAN SmartSelect infotainment controls – Kevin can draw on a wealth of technical resources. And what’s more, he is delighted with the luxurious fittings in his new abode: stunning Alcantara upholstery, dimmable LED night lighting, DAB radio and a refrigerator beneath the bunk. Thanks to the high-quality, 110 mm cold foam mattress, Kevin can get an excellent sleep and starts the next working day feeling well-rested. “I love the freedom that my job affords me and the fact that I am always out and about. I get to know so many people and places. Spending all day in an office is definitely not something I would enjoy,” he says.
MAN is popular with Hammond’s drivers
“We started driving MAN trucks in 1992 and have stuck with them ever since. They ensure a high level of reliability, competitive operating costs, value for money and a high level of comfort,” says Kevin’s boss Terry Hammond, Managing Director of Hammond Transport.

It looks fantastic and Kevin has really embraced the new technology and, judging by the fuel returns, he is obviously putting it to good use.”
