We actually wanted to write a Trucklife story about Yannic Engelmann and his new truck for the Trucker’s World website. Yet things sadly don’t always go to plan, and Yannic will need to wait another year for his MAN dream to come true. Fortunately, that hasn’t stopped him from telling us a little about himself, his current MAN truck, and his job. As we chatted, he quickly let slip that he’s one of our own: a member of Trucker’s World by MAN. What a great reason to present him here today!

Yannic is one of those drivers who couldn’t get enough of trucks at a young age.

In a sense, he was pre-programmed to sit behind the wheel of a juggernaut later in life. Since February 2013, he’s been the proud owner of a driving license, now works as a trucker and (in his own words) mainly drives sand, gravel, and grit around his neck of the woods. Above all else, what the 26-year-old appreciates about his job is the fact he’s always on the move and meeting new people. And his MAN truck, of course! His current ride is a MAN TGX 18.480 Black Lion Edition, which ticks all the boxes for him: “The quality, the way it looks and performs, and – best of all – MAN’s sound system.”

He doesn’t shy away from any of his job’s challenges, either. Giving up is not an option for him, and anything is possible if he only puts his mind to it. And what else defines this line of work? The fact that each day is different from the last and that you never know what’s in store. In other words, you always have to stay flexible, keep calm, and carry on.

If Yannic could wish for one thing, it’s that the work done by him and his colleagues would finally get the respect it deserves among the public. His only other wish for the future is a heartfelt one: “I only want to get back safely to my family every evening – that’s all.” Keep on driving safely, Yannic!
