Nadine gets in on the act with her MAN TGX

Pro trucker Nadine Matt and her MAN TGX 18.480 HydroDrive don’t shy away from challenges or big building sites and are always open to new experiences, as they showed at the WoMAN photo shoot.

Nadine Matt had been keen on technology and big rigs for a long time before choosing a career in the transportation industry. Riding motorbikes, building models, flying R/C planes, and snapping aircraft and construction vehicles are all among her favourite hobbies. “In 2006, I completed my vocational training as a professional driver with the best marks in the country and started driving buses on scheduled services. I ultimately got my CE license in 2017 and have been driving a semitrailer combination ever since,” Nadine explains.

These days, she mainly drives her MAN TGX 18.480 on building and landfill sites, transporting excavated material, gravel, and scrap – usually in a tipper combination. “In the wintertime, I also transport snowcats with a flatbed semitrailer on occasion,” she says.

Nadine and her truck often head off the beaten track, making her all the more thankful that her Lion is equipped with MAN HydroDrive. The inclement weather we’re seeing at present is particularly to blame for the kind of unpredictable surprises that often crop up. “Apart from that, no two landfills or building sites are the same,” the 34-year-old adds. Aside from the option of switching between the manual gearbox and MAN HydroDrive, her new Lion’s looks are the “mane” attraction for Nadine. “Thankfully, MAN still makes a point of standing out from the crowd,” she says.

Beside this MAN is a great WoMAN

Nadine is much more about substance than style, which explains her initial scepticism when invited to the WoMAN photo shoot, including hair and make-up courtesy of Trucker’s World by MAN. “Day-to-day styling? For me, that means brushing my teeth and hair before spraying a little deodorant on. Make-up isn’t my scene at all,” laughs the trucker from Illerrieden. Of course, we’re delighted that we ultimately persuaded Nadine to step in front of the camera. And she took to it like a duck to water, coming across as authentic, forthright, and having a blast working with our photographer. “He was a great guy and gave it his best shot,” Nadine explains. Obviously, she got a big boost from having her trusty steed – the MAN TGX – by her side on the shoot. That is, before they had to get back on the road to the next building site: Nadine’s order books are as full as ever, and we hope it stays that way for this likeable, down-to-earth driver.
