A fresh wind blowing in from Düren

At Örge nothing is left to chance

A snapshot of someone who changed tack to get to know and love the transport industry: Veysi Örge was not at all interested in commercial vehicles. But today he is the proud owner of 15 trucks and when it comes to his two new MAN acquisitions, we are indeed talking about a real passion.

At the company known as Örge Transporte in Düren/Germany, a few things are quite different in comparison to other transport companies. This already starts with the founding of the company. The business that was founded by Ismail and Veysi Örge in 2014 does not look back on a long history steeped in family traditions. Nevertheless, family plays a major role here: for it was one Örge brother who convinced the other one that setting up a transport company would be a good idea. “I personally had little interest in trucks up until that point,” confesses Veysi Örge during the interview. “But my brother was hell-bent on getting into this business.” Veysi Örge went along with his brother’s wish although the start was anything but a walk in the park. In the beginning both brothers were behind the wheel themselves – in other words, getting to grips with things the hard way but it was also certainly the best way of learning about the industry and all its good and bad sides. Today, seven years later, the brothers have 17 employees working for them and 15 vehicles are on their forecourt.

And it is two of these vehicles which particularly stand out: firstly because these two trucks are the first and the only MAN vehicles that the company has – on top of that they also belong to the new MAN Truck Generation – and secondly because the stunning appearance of the two supertrucks is just so attention-grabbing. Their vibrant yellow is a real eye-catcher and the shades of blue enhance the finishing of both of these MAN TGX trucks. Veysi Örge reveals to us that he chose these colours as homage to his favourite football club Fenerbahçe Istanbul and he is completely convinced that his yellow and dark blue, high-end trucks are a big hit, scoring point after point with drivers and making a huge impression on them: “We receive so many inquiries from drivers who would like to work at our firm,” explains Veysi. A driver shortage is something unknown in this company. And there we have another point which demonstrates that at Örge things run a little differently from the way they do in other companies in this sector.

Extravagant and extraordinary

Returning once again to the striking look of both yellow and dark blue super Lions: here nothing was left to chance and the customer’s high demands for quality took precedence above all else. “He had very definite ideas and wanted to create something perfect,” sums up very succinctly Rolf Horwitz, Service Manager of the Aachen service outlet in order to show how high the bar for the body of both MAN trucks for Örge had been set. It has to be said that with him the Örges have found their true master craftsman: “Extraordinary projects are not a rare occurrence in Aachen.” And Horwitz himself is said to have a great predilection for bodywork. So the elaborate and indeed extravagant finishing of both MAN trucks, whereby the paint job and the lighting took up the greatest part of the task, was a challenge, which the guys in Aachen were delighted to tackle. Each MAN truck took just a week to become embellished with a light bar and an extravagant additional light box and enhanced with lavish paint work and side panels, extras which were not available ex works. And then they were ready to be presented to the customer. He could hardly believe the result: “A salesman who kept all his promises.” Up until then Veysi Örge had never been a fan of salesmen and had also never made a secret of this fact.

For this reason the first meeting with MAN salesman Nico Boost was treated with a certain amount of reservation: “I don’t think much of salesmen at all, they promise a lot and do nothing,” was the greeting that met Nico Boost when he arrived at the Örge company premises. This was, however, no reason for the professional salesman to be thrown off his stride and not give of his best as usual. “We really come into our own when it is a question of projects dealing with individual vehicle construction,” says Rolf Horwitz, too, when confirming his team’s aspiration to always give a 100% effort. During the first meeting with all three men, customer Örge, salesman Boost and Horwitz got on so well together from the word go. Horwitz attaches great importance to including the customer in the discussions on vehicle construction so as to give him the opportunity of accompanying “his baby” throughout all the different phases. “The project was great fun, hugely enjoyable. The trucks are real eye-catchers.” This is how Horwitz sums up his feelings on the Örge project.

And Veysi Örge himself? Is completely in love with his fine and noble Lions. In fact he is so euphoric about them that he is toying with the idea of changing his entire fleet over to MAN vehicles. And all this started because of one of his long-standing drivers: “One of our top drivers was always mad keen on MAN trucks,” explains Veysi Örge. And because the wishes of their drivers carry a great deal of weight for him and his brother, he let himself be persuaded to buy MAN number 1 and 2 although he doesn’t think much of “mixing” truck brands in the company. “The fittings of our trucks fulfil every imaginable wish. Our drivers are always present during sales talks and more or less choose the features they want themselves. The whole point is that they feel comfortable and at ease in their vehicles.”

The extent of the delight experienced by the drivers who were then assigned to the two MAN trucks nevertheless completely took him by surprise: “It’s very difficult to describe this feeling,” says Veysi Örge as he laughs.

“I could see that the two drivers really felt an emotional rapport with the MAN trucks.”

“It was an overwhelming feeling,” confirms Andi, one of the drivers, describing the moment when he was able to pick up his MAN. And his previous truck was then very quickly forgotten: “I’d never want to swap this!”

And all the other drivers in the company seem to have got the taste for these vehicles, too: “Since we’ve had MAN trucks in the company, all our drivers are keen to drive MAN,” declares Veysi Örge. And it is pretty certain that at one of the next barbecues or during a football or bowling evening, he will be making plans with his brother and the drivers as to how things will pan out as regards the number of MAN trucks driving for Örge in the future. When the planning is completed, Nico Boost will surely be the first to find out. Because one thing is already set in stone for Veysi Örge: “I only want to work together with him.”
