Lisa’s only interested in driving trucks

TRUCKLIFE

And she’s in it for the long haul

Every day, Lisa Seyfert shows the world just what women can do – in her job as a professional trucker. Together with her companion, Frieda, a MAN TGX 18.460, she works in the disposal industry and loves every minute she spends in the cab.

A young woman who loves nothing more than to get in her truck every day and hit the road – as soon as Lisa Seyfert found her way into the life of a professional trucker, she knew it was the job for her. “Before this, I used to work for a contractor,” the 26-year-old says, “but that didn’t last long. After a month I moved straight to Horst Bohmann Entsorgung GmbH, because all I wanted to do was drive trucks.”

Lisa discovered her passion for trucks at an early age. This led to her accompanying her partner – who is also a trucker – on his trips for two years. Little did she know that she would soon be stepping into the same career herself. “Back then I’d never even considered driving a truck of my own,” she recalls. At one of her previous jobs in the agricultural sector, the young woman was presented with the opportunity to obtain a truck driver’s licence. And when her company started “renting out” its employees as drivers for the winter, Lisa soon realised that there was nothing she would rather be doing.

Since then, she has spent most of her time on the road in her MAN TGX, Frieda. While most of her jobs so far have been short-haul, if given the choice Lisa would love to take on more long-haul trips – something she’ll have plenty of opportunity for at Bohmann. What she loves most about this kind of job is that it allows her to gain more experience. “I find it relaxing,” the Ganderkesee-born driver explains. “You get up in the morning, get ready, then set off in your own time.” In Lisa’s opinion, short-haul trips are much more hectic. Lisa has now been a professional driver for two years. And she couldn’t be happier with her MAN TGX, Frieda:

“For me, there’s just one love – and that’s the lion.”

As such, she’s thrilled with the change soon to come at her job: Lisa is waiting for a new MAN TGX with 510 hp. Her boss has ordered three of them – and Lisa will be one of the proud drivers who gets to use them. “I’m really looking forward to it – though of course, I’ll be sad to let go of my trusty Frieda.”
