With Chris Gruss and his MAN TGX Red Lion, refrigerated goods are in safe hands

The operating temperature is just right with professional trucker Christopher Gruss and his sleek partner: a MAN TGX Red Lion. The pair drive temperature-controlled goods in Germany, as well as throughout Europe.

“Empty fridge? The truck will fill it!” – the slogan on Christopher’s (Chris for short) trailer is not an empty promise. The semitrailer of his MAN TGX Red Lion really does deliver the goods when the pair are on their travels for Spedition Kautetzky. In the form of frozen foods or fresh goods that need to arrive at the customer at the right temperature.

On the way, there are always new places to get to know – something that Chris really appreciates about his job, even if driving through uncharted territory also brings the occasional challenge with it. For new customers in particular, you never know what might be waiting for you when you get there – narrow roads or similar. And if the navigation lets you down, it could make things tricky: “Then you’re on your own,” as Chris succinctly puts it. And he would not completely rely on the device’s information, at any rate: “Always have a quick look at where it wants to send you to be certain it makes sense,” he advises. In any case, he and his MAN always manage to get back on track. After six years in the job, the 32-year-old knows what he’s doing, of course.

And he can also trust his truck: the reliability and look of the MAN TGX in the special Red Lion edition impressed Chris in particular. If he gets a new truck, he will have one clear criterion: “The new one has to look just as good” as his current MAN. And, of course, he would have nothing against a little extra power under the bonnet: “A MAN 640 would be nice,” laughs the driver from Langenstein. Until then, he and his red lion make a pretty cool team.
