A dream new vehicle

René now drives his dream MAN

A real eye-catcher, the new MAN TGX 18.510 driven by professional driver René Hintze. He himself is blissfully happy with the state-of-the-art Lion. In his story, we find out why he decided to become a driver shortly before completing an apprenticeship.

René had actually just completed his vocational training as a painter and varnisher when he was bitten by the trucking bug and decided to get his driving licence. He was already enthusiastic about big vehicles as a child. At that time, he also accompanied his father on tour time and again. “I wanted to drive too,” says René, explaining his decision at the time to join this career sector after all, like his father.

“I just have diesel in my blood, that’s what I grew up with,”

says the 34-year-old, who now drives under his nickname “Schnuggy” and is known by many in the scene as such. He has now been working as a professional driver since 2008 and still has a lot of fun with what he finds to be a job full of variety. He now works for the transport company König in Grünheide in the bulk materials industry and is responsible for construction site logistics in local and long-haul transport. There are always challenges in his everyday work. Generally, when it comes to approaching new customers, it would be tricky to even get there with the truck.

It’s good to be able to concentrate on the route in such cases because the truck runs reliably. René is clearly betting on MAN. He has been an absolute Lion fan ever since he was allowed to test a MAN TGX demonstrator at his father’s company in 2008. “I just wanted to drive this MAN TGX and that’s how it started – once a lion, always a lion,” says René. In other companies, he also had the opportunity to drive trucks from other manufacturers again and again, but this could not change his loyalty to the MAN Lion. “One thing was always clear: I wanted to drive MAN again!” the driver from Müncheberg clarifies.

And he does. With an “indescribably beautiful car”, as he says himself. The steel-blue MAN TGX 18.510 from the new MAN Truck Generation is his absolute dream vehicle and there is nothing that could make it any better. Nevertheless, there is still a little room for improvement. Of course, one or two details could be added, such as an all-leather interior trim. Otherwise, however, René is sure: “I got my MAN like I always wanted him to be.”
