Taylor Doehring on the path to becoming a professional trucker

Being a trucker – for Taylor Mick Doehring that is not just a wish, but a clearly defined goal, to which he gets a step closer every day with his apprenticeship. Find out in his Trucklife story why that is a dream come true for the 20-year-old.

Feeling at home behind the wheel – with his apprenticeship as a professional trucker, Taylor Doehring gets a little closer to his dream job every day: ‘It’s simply a job that makes me a little happier each day,’ says Taylor.‘Once I have completed my apprenticeship, I will be able to say that I have achieved my goal in life.’ He explains that he received a lot of support from others who helped him find his way in life and motivated him to take up the profession. And, of course, he was already fascinated by large vehicles as a child. ‘I used to have a large collection of toy trucks that distracted me from any worries in the afternoons and evenings.’

Since August 2021, the 20-year-old has been an apprentice at Noris Entsorgung. On his routes, he drives roll-off and debris containers to customers or brings already filled containers to landfill. Picking up the containers is not always easy, he explains, for example when car drivers or other road users get in the way of him and his truck. Nevertheless, Taylor enjoys the challenge of taking responsibility for and working with the big machines.

Taylor is an especially big fan of MAN vehicles. That’s why he could be found at the MAN booth at the IAA Transportation in Hanover in autumn 2022. He is also a member of the Trucker’s World by MAN drivers’ club. The young driver very much hopes that he will be able to get behind the wheel of his own MAN at some point, as he is highly impressed by the workmanship and longevity of the lions – just seeing the vehicles gives him a pleasant sensation of butterflies in his stomach, Taylor admits. Even though he does not drive a MAN professionally, he regularly has the opportunity to do so in his voluntary work with the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund organisation. For about four years, he has been supporting the rapid deployment group as a volunteer and is mainly used in case of large-scale operations or disasters, but also provides medical cover at concerts or festivals as one of his tasks for the emergency service.

“For me, sitting in a truck means freedom, a good feeling in my stomach and just enjoying the day.”

Taylor’s passion for the profession, the apprenticeship for which he will soon have completed, will undoubtedly power his happiness in the job. In addition to achieving that, we also hope he manages to get his hands on a brand-new MAN TGX, which he longs for to accompany his journeys.
