Always on tour in a pair

TRUCKSTOP

Leo, Gerard and their MAN TGX are an unbeatable team

Leo and Gerard have a lot of professional experience with trucks. Both have been working as professional drivers for a long time, delivering Asian gastronomy products to German restaurants for their employer Choi Kwai International.

“There are always two of us on the road. My steady colleague Gerard and me,” is how Leo Mundi describes his day-to-day work as a truck driver. Another thing that always stays the same is that the Dutch driver duo drives two fixed tours a week. This means they are on the road from Monday to Tuesday around Lower Saxony and from Wednesday to Friday in the Saarland.

With 17 and 22 years behind the wheel of a truck, Leo and Gerard are “old hands” on the road and bring with them the necessary composure to take it easier once in a while. “I appreciate the freedom we have with our employer Choi Kwai International. No stress. It’s more important that the goods do indeed arrive on time but also arrive in a pleasant way,” says Gerard. “So we have no time pressure and, together with our new truck, we have so much fun with our work.”

The new truck is a MAN TGX 26.510, which the two drivers were also able to customise according to their own wishes – “built the way we wanted it from the outside as well as the inside,” Gerard confirms. Among other things, they both wanted nice lighting, lots of leather and an audio upgrade for the music system. Which truck would he choose? “Well, with this MAN TGX, we have exactly the vehicle we wanted. Gerard and I are very happy with this ‘lion’ model,” says Leo. Leo himself is not used to anything else – except for short phases in his professional life, he has always sat in a MAN.

“Our MAN is always there.”

Gerard adds, “starting and running.” And there’s little else that doesn’t go so well for the two Dutchmen in their job, or that bothers them. “When the weather is bad or there is a very long traffic jam on the motorway and my colleague snores,” Leo laughs. Because the fun of the work is clearly at the forefront for both members of the driver duo. And the fact that it’s also great fun whenever Leo and Gerard go on tour together is easy to imagine in view of the answers given by the two thoroughbred drivers. We hope that their journeys will always be safe, and are very pleased that they have shared their ‘truck life story’ with us and the community.
