Job sought, dream job found

TRUCKSTOP

These days, Björn Busse loves sitting behind the wheel

Working in the timber trade at the company Enno Roggemann requires a lot of skill and a feel for the differently sized freight items. Professional driver Björn Busse has long known what matters. And he is delighted with his trusty lion-branded truck, a MAN TGS 26.420.

Some 14 years ago while searching for a job, Björn Busse decided to work as a professional driver. One thing he didn’t realise at the time: He inadvertently stumbled across his dream job: “I don’t want to do anything else,” he explains, even today still beaming with satisfaction.

“I especially like that I get to work independently within the specified route.”

Travelling all over southern Germany, he enjoys the contact and interaction with customers and colleagues as much as the beautiful landscapes he sees along the way. What he doesn’t like at all, however, is the impatience and recklessness he thinks is displayed by other road users. It’s certain that impatience would not get him far in his job: When it comes to securing his loads, absolute concentration is the top priority.

“I work in timber wholesale and often have to load a wide variety of products in different dimensions onto the truck and secure them sensibly,” he says, describing the challenging task in which lashing the cargo plays a decisive role. He often has to deal with large deliveries to construction sites, where unloading is often more difficult. In any case, Björn enjoys his duties and has a clear recommendation: “We are always looking for good and motivated colleagues who enjoy challenges and want to support our team.”

Björn also feels perfectly at home in and with his MAN TGS 26.420, which daily reinforces his conviction that “once MAN, always MAN”. “I’d like to particularly highlight the perfect and load-dependent control of the automatic transmission,” says the 34-year-old. If he could wish for a truck, he would choose exactly the same model that he already drives – but maybe with a bit more horsepower.

The trucker from Muhr am See, who is involved in local politics in his spare time, does have one wish for the future: that mobility could be as emission-free as possible. This green aspiration fits perfectly with his other hobby – his garden.
