Medical drop-in centre for drivers

What do truckers do if they feel unwell or fall ill on the road? This is an important topic that the DocStop team has taken on and successfully addressed for 10 years.

Time is tight, you still have hundreds of kilometres to go, you feel exhausted and your body seems to be going crazy. It’s a nightmare for professional drivers. As the initiator of the association “DocStop für Europäer e.V.” (DocStop for Europeans), Rainer Bernickel has taken on this everyday problem faced by truckers and set up an en-route medical care service for drivers. Initially only operating in a few places, the medical network is now available in five countries with numerous drop-in centres. In addition, DocStop works with a hotline through which the hotline team can quickly provide you with telephone numbers of medical practices or hospitals throughout Europe at any time.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic struck, personal hygiene has become even more important. But truck drivers often no longer have access to the even the most basic hygiene measures. DocStop has campaigned for access to clean toilets and showers and launched the SaniStop campaign. Forwarding agents, shippers and other companies provide truck parking spaces with access to toilets and showers – so that drivers do not have to do without everyday necessities on the road.  
Brand new in Germany: MAN Truck & Bus is now an official partner of DocStop. In concrete terms, this means: the German MAN service companies offer parking facilities during their opening hours for drivers who have a medical appointment and need a parking space for the duration of the visit to the doctor.
