Germany welcomes new female drivers

TRUCKSTOP

Bianca Krieger from Taura is just one of this new wave of drivers

Bianca grew up around trucks and not only describes them as her favourite hobby but has also turned this hobby into her profession. Behind the wheel of her MAN TGX 18.510 Bianca feels free and autonomous. Here’s her Truck Life Story.

Truck-driving parents, a truck-driving brother and finally Bianca, who decided to join the truck-driving world in 2013. After seeing everyone else in her family enjoying trucker life, it was absolutely clear to Bianca that she would also join this life and get behind the wheel of a truck. Even today, ten years after taking her driving licence, the young woman from Taura can’t imagine anything better than hitting the road in her MAN TGX 18.510.

“I love the freedom of being on the road alone in my truck and being my ‘own boss’ on board,”

says Bianca, who mainly drives in Germany for Gettrans, carrying drinks on the outbound journey and the corresponding empty vessels on the return journey. Of course, trucker life is not without its pitfalls. One aspect that annoys Bianca is having to search for parking spaces, while she is also faced again and again with the sometimes unacceptable condition of public showers and toilets that she relies on when driving her truck. What a better feeling, then, than Bianca feeling so at home and comfortable in her MAN. Bianca lets slip that she approaches her Lion with a big smile on her face every day. “I know it’s the right one for me. Comfort, appearance, driving feel – I can’t complain,” laughs the 27-year-old.

And her dream Lion? – Definitely her own: “If I could choose a truck, I would always choose mine.” It already boasts scores of extra features. Making her Lion look and be the best is all down to Bianca; she enjoys spending some of her free time on this. If she allows herself to daydream about what else she can add, she imagines her already attractive Lion with a stylish lamp bracket. It may not be that long coming and her and Yoshi (as Bianca has christened her green MAN) can shine on the roads of Germany every day.
