Sporty elegance from Italy

The MAN Truck Champion competition has encouraged many MAN drivers and owners across Europe to share their special vehicles with the community. Among the participants was also the stylish Lion of professional driver Romano from Italy.

It did not win, but was still a winner. This is how professional driver Romano Rabachin feels when it comes to his MAN TGX xx.580 Individual Lion. Although the beautiful truck was beaten by the other participants in the MAN Truck Champion ranking, there is no doubt about Romano’s passion, who goes on tour with the Lion and a tarpaulin semitrailer. Romano can already look back on a 40-year career as a professional driver and also wants to spend the next few years behind the wheel of a truck. “I’ve always enjoyed driving,” says Romano, who became aware of trucks and his later dream job when he was eleven. He describes himself as a truck enthusiast, and as such he also wanted to present himself with his special Lion as part of the MAN Truck Champion competition. For the design of the Lion, he and his boss were inspired by MAN magazines and also received some suggestions from their MAN dealer.

“It has a sporty and elegant design at the same time,”

says Romano when describing the visual attributes of his MAN TGX. The passionate trucker doesn’t mind that he didn’t win any of the titles in the competition. “It was just nice to be there,” he says in a sporty way. He also got a lot of confirmation from friends and family that his Lion is a very attractive truck and also that “I’m a bit crazy at the age of 61,” laughs Romano.

It’s not crazy that Romano was able to experience one of his most beautiful tours together with his wife: “That was in England many years ago,” he says, recalling the time when he had his partner at his side as co-driver. Otherwise, he’s always on the road on his own with his MAN. We hope that the truck enthusiast he will continue to have many special experiences in the future in the pursuit of his favourite occupation and with his Lion – and that, in addition to all the sporty elegance, there will always be room for some crazy things as well.
