The heavy-duty MAN eTruck is leading the way

After extensive testing, sales of the electric Lion have begun

MAN vans and city buses have already been represented in real traffic for some time. Now the new heavy-duty MAN eTruck is also ready to continue the successful electrification of road traffic. From the end of October, customers in the first European markets will be able to order the fully electric Lion.

Thanks to its provision for the future megawatt charging standard, the MAN eTruck achieves daily ranges suitable for long-haul transport of between 600 and 800 kilometres and is therefore ready to take on the typical transport tasks of modern trucks: this includes low-noise and emission-free waste disposal in the city, as well as collecting milk from organic farmers with an electric food and beverage tanker. On the road to series maturity, the MAN eTruck had to pass various stress tests in order to prove its suitability in terms of performance, reliability and efficiency compared to conventional diesel vehicles. This also included many hundreds of thousands of kilometres of road tests, including at minus 40 degrees in the icy cold of Sweden. Most recently, 40 development experts tested the MAN eTruck for ten weeks in extreme summer heat in southern Spain. At temperatures of around plus 40 degrees, the electric truck was able to prove its suitability for use in real-world conditions over more than 10,000 kilometres in sometimes extreme topography with numerous downhill and uphill gradients day and night.
