Father, son and MAN

Karl Wetsch Senior and Junior share a passion for the Lion

Two generations of drivers, one MAN – Karl Wetsch Senior and Karl Wetsch Junior are unanimous when it comes to choosing their profession and their favourite vehicle: only the Lion appeals to both drivers. They have just picked up a new truck at MAN in Munich.

Karl Wetsch Senior is now retired. But before entering his well-earned retirement, he spent his entire professional life as a truck driver. He worked behind the wheel for Ruf for 45 years, transporting concrete pipes, sand and gravel. “I always enjoyed driving,” says the 75-year-old, who retired ten years ago. Nevertheless, he still regularly comes into contact with his former profession. The biggest point of contact is based on the fact that his son, Karl Wetsch Junior, also works as a professional driver. “Because my father always drove and I really liked it,” he says, explaining why he chose that profession. He also followed in his father’s footsteps when it came to his choice of employer. Like Wetsch Senior, the 44-year-old delivers concrete pipes, ceilings and walls to construction sites for Ruf.

And because all good things come in threes, both men also agree on their choice of favourite brand: both are fully committed to the MAN brand.

“The workmanship, the driving experience, just everything,”

says Karl Junior, explaining why he always prefers driving a Lion. His father also confirms that he has always been convinced by the brand. So it was a special experience for the two of them to take delivery of the latest vehicle for the Ruf fleet in Munich in person: an MAN TGX from the new MAN Truck Generation. “This truck is a dream come true,” the father and son agreed when they sat together in the cab and drove back to Ansbach in the modern Lion.
