The stage is set for the Falco truck

TRUCKSTOP

For truck driver and music fan Markus Gollmann, the MAN TGX is his second home

With the hit “Rock me Amadeus” in 1985, Falco was the absolute number one, not only in Germany and Austria, but also in the United Kingdom and the USA. The singer with a confident grin and slicked-back hair died far too early but nevertheless enjoys legendary status. That’s why it was clear to Markus Gollmann that Falco and his life dates 1957 to 1998 had to be immortalised on the cab of his MAN TGX 18.510. The world-class truck and the world-class musician belong inseparably together.

The black paintwork, chrome rims and the shiny tank semitrailer also make Markus’ truck a real rock star. “Many people look at my truck twice, and I’m often asked about it,” he reports proudly. The 45-year-old Austrian is on the road every day in his truck, transporting fuels, solvents and other hazardous goods to industrial companies. 27,000 litres when the tank is full.

Markus drives for Weixler Trans GmbH, a company based in his home town of Fehring in Styria. The fleet includes 15 trucks, including three tankers – all Black Beauties. Like his colleagues, Markus was able to choose the brand and styling of his truck:

“The fact that my tanker truck would be something different from an MAN was never up for discussion. I’ve been driving only MAN for 22 years.”

Weixler Trans GmbH received full support from Peter Reindl from MAN Truck & Bus Sinabelkirchen for completion of the Falco truck. “He takes care of the body and maintenance of all our MAN vehicles and is there for us almost day and night for every request,” says Markus.

From Monday to Friday, Markus is on the road on routes in Austria, Germany and Hungary. He drives 650 to 700 kilometres a day. “My truck is my second home. The cab is fully equipped. I really like the truck. I feel good at home here.”

At the weekend, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends. This also includes friends, bosses and colleagues from the company. They are all passionate truck fans, a real community. Markus takes five to six hours to restore the MAN TGX to its shining glory in the vehicle wash: “For me, it’s a kind of relaxation.”

Markus can’t get enough of that

On Monday, when Markus starts his rolling home again, he turns on music to get things moving. Falco, AC/DC, Guns’n’Roses, but also Schlager. Depending on mood. “Out of the Dark”, the last big hit that Falco released shortly before his death, is one of his favourites. “I can never get enough of you. You’re in every breath,” Falco sings in the song. The text also fits perfectly with Markus and his passion for trucks.
