Just his thing

TRUCKSTOP

Even after 32 years driving a truck, Oliver Grimm can't be stopped.

With more than three decades of professional experience, there isn’t much that can faze Oliver Grimm and he has already worked in numerous sectors. He has transported building materials, delivered beer, driven long timber and has now returned to construction site traffic. Oliver feels at home here – which is also thanks to his work equipment: an MAN TGX that can handle almost all tasks.

We meet Oliver at the edge of a large excavation pit. He spent the entire morning delivering and transporting construction materials – in some cases on difficult, sloping terrain. Nevertheless, there is almost no sign of fatigue on the face of the agile 53-year-old. Content sitting on a folding chair in the spring sun during his lunch break, drinking coffee and happily looking at his MAN TGX 26.640. He was asked by his employer, Boller Bau, before the acquisition – by way of appreciation and in recognition for his good work.

“Obviously, my job can be strenuous at times, but I live and love my job and enjoy doing every task passionately, otherwise it wouldn’t work.”

“With my truck and its conversion with MAN HydroDrive drive, the company fulfilled a big wish of mine. With it, I can overcome almost any challenge. It is a great honour for me to be able to drive this MAN TGX. A big thank you goes to my management!”, Oliver proudly reaffirms.

With Boller Bau, he has found an employer who is as enthusiastic about construction as he is. According to the company’s own website, construction for the company from Tauberbischofsheim in Baden-Württemberg is not merely “laying stones on top of each other” or “casting concrete” – it is the passion for implementing a technically sophisticated idea while balancing the topics of efficiency, modern technology and consideration for nature and people.

It is only logical that those responsible at Boller Bau equip their team with high-performance, efficient vehicles and rely on employees like Oliver, who call for top performance at the wheel every day. With conviction.

“I’ve been a truck driver for 32 years. This career ran in the family. For me, this is much more than a career aspiration, it’s my vocation.”

With his MAN TGX, he is in demand when transporting construction machinery and materials for civil engineering as well as on construction sites where propulsion is required. His truck already impresses visually with replicas of the wall paintings of the Boller company building on the tipper. The cockpit is fully equipped with suede seats, comprehensive safety and camera systems, spotlights – and a coffee machine that gives Oliver an extra portion of power at work.

“I can go almost anywhere off-road with my truck. The power, drive and comfort of my MAN are truly unique,” explains Oliver enthusiastically. The construction site professional was able to configure and equip it himself according to his needs. Now he looks after and cares for his truck like the apple of his eye – and hopes that he can work with it for many years to come. Admittedly: sometimes he dreams of his next supertruck. It goes without saying that it would be from MAN, perhaps with some more features and configuration options. That would be great.

Anything is possible. Nothing is a must. He is delighted with his MAN TGX. He leans back in his camping chair, his truck shines in the sun, the break is soon over. No worries. This is exactly his thing.
